In British Literature class, I was thinking about “What would happen if White had a kit of her own?” I thought “That’s highly unlikely. But I can give it a try.”
I never in my entire life wrote a romance story, so I’ll try out that genre too. (Of course you can’t just spawn a kit out of nowhere without a mate.) Hopefully this will turn out well enough to entertain readers.

I am but a normal upwalker’s pet; my only job in the entire world is to bring happiness and love whenever my upwalker needs it. My upwalker is a nice lady, who took me in from the large house where all the lost cats go. My mum had passed away when she had me and my brothers and sisters, hence why I ended up in that place. My upwalker calls me Orpheus, so I guess that is my name. (And I only respond to it because she gives me food when I do respond.) I am glad that my upwalker decided to pick me out of the other cats and brought me to this house where I can eat as much as I want. I live out in the cold snowy neighborhood out in the tundra. It is really cold, so I only take short outings; until now that is.
I was outside on my upwalker’s porch, looking at the vast landscape of white. The snow rains down frequently here, especially when it is winter. “Orpheus!” My upwalker called worriedly when it started to snow more. I paid no attention to her calls, just because I saw a feline trudging through the incoming blizzard. “I wonder who that would be.” I thought with the highest curiosity.
Personally, I am not really a curious cat myself. But seeing that cat roaming around in the snow completely raised the fur from my back. Was it a ghost? I have no idea. The cat was completely white, white as the snow! Her eyes were beautiful and clouded with mystery. Forget my idea that she was a ghost. She’s more like an “angel” as my human would put it. Snapping out of my trance, I heard my upwalker kept calling out my name. I headed back inside without another look at the cat, hoping to see her again.
The next morning I headed out once more, just to see if the cat was still wandering around. To my luck, I saw the white cat scavenging in my upwalker’s silver boulder. “Hello.” I said as I approached the cat slowly as possible. The cat peered out of the silver boulder and lunged right at me, her fangs bared. I remembered some lost cats are severely violent, and my mistake is that I was not aware of this feline being one. Her heterochromatic eyes glared right at mine, her claws slowly sinking deep into my skin. “I’m sorry for intruding, but I just came by to say hello.” My voice trembled and broke like a scared little kit.
“Oh, really now?” The female meowed she narrowed her eyes. “You are a kittypet aren’t you?” She smirked and spat at the word kittypet as if it was crowfood.
“Uhh, if you mean upwalker’s pet…Yes.” I said in a nervous tone.
“Then it makes it easier for me to kill you!” The she-cat went for my throat, her claws gripping on as I tried getting back up.
Clearing my head through the panic, I kicked the rogue off with my hind legs and jumped back on my fours. Adrenaline pumped through my veins for the first time, as I never had fought before. This cat was dangerous and something was not right with her. The cat launched another attack, swerving around and landed on my back. I tried shaking her off, but it was pointless. If she gets my neck, I’m food for the worms! My thoughts raced and immediately I counterattacked; jumping with my hind legs and flipped back, landing on the she-cat with my larger body.
The she-cat was finally immobile and I glanced at her, pinning her squirming body. “I’m sorry. I did not mean to hurt you or anything. I was just protecting myself.” I meowed calmly, trying to reassure her I mean no harm.
“Get off me you piece of foxdung! Damn you!” The she-cat squirmed under my paws, still immobile.
“I won’t let you go until you stop attacking. I do not want to fight; especially I do not want to fight females.” I meowed in a stern tone.
The body of the she-cat stopped squirming and I thought it was okay to let her go. That was a bad idea. The she-cat stood up after I got off her and lashed at my face, her claws slashing a wound into my eye. And in a flash, the cat was gone. I sat there, my eye blinded by the crimson shedding from my wound. My upwalker ran out to see what was the yowling was about, but she was too late to figure that out. She picked my limp body up and carried me off to the vet.

I was fuming, angry, and bamboozled! How can a mere kittypet like him beat me in a fight? I am skilled, agile, and ruthless…How can he just stop me from attacking just like that? He is no ordinary kittypet I assure you… And I have a feeling I should keep a watch on him.
Leaf-bare is a harsh time of the year when I have the most difficulty of finding food. I resort to scavenging, often finding leftovers of the twolegs that rarely finish their food. The twolegs are such wasteful creatures, and I am glad they are. I decided to visit the tom once again, but this time I will not attack him since I know I will not compare to his size. I scaled his fence which guards his home, and I saw him sitting in a patch of grass.
“Hello kittypet.” I meowed, more or less friendly as I would put it.
“The name’s Orpheus.” The tom meowed as he waved his tail to allow me to enter his territory.
“I go by the name White, a simple leader of a rogue clan.” I meowed casually.
“White, I humbly welcome to my place.” The tom meowed with a forced smile; I stared at the wound on his eye, now a scar.
“This? Oh…It’s no problem. I should have expected it. And not to mention, you seemed hungry since I saw you rummaging through my upwalker’s silver boulder.” Orpheus meowed with a hint of worry, his tail moved away from a bowl of kittypet food.
“I know your types don’t like stomaching this kind of food, but it would be better to eat than to starve during this season.” The tom meowed as he pushed the bowl towards me.
I cannot believe this tom on how he acts towards me. I was hostile towards him; not even! I was trying to murder him right there and then. Yet he treats me like a queen, trying to treat me well as the best as he could. Even though I do not fare well with kittypet food, I dipped my head towards the bowl and began eating. As of right now, kittypet food tasted much better than the twoleg trash I had been consuming lately.
Without another word, I jumped away when I finished the food; the tom sitting there with a friendly look to his eyes. I despised that look as I glared at him to make him stop. Noticing my glare, the tom stopped smiling and frowned nervously. That straightened him out that’s for sure. “Don’t get too perky with me, cheeky kittypet.” I hissed at him with warning.
“Ah. Sorry. I just thought we were friends.” Orpheus meowed with a hint of disappointment.
“Well we’re not. You may like me, but I do not like you. You are a kittypet and that’s that.” I said coldly.
The tom dipped his head low miserably and became discouraged. I smirked deviously at my accomplishment since I did not want any ties with the soft-hearted kittypet.
I climbed over his fence and jumped down, running back to my territory; leaving the tom contemplating. Maybe next time he’ll get real food; like poultry or even ham.

My heart grew colder as every day the she-cat came by my house. She was harsh and bitter, always unappreciated of what I do for her. I cared for her, but I was not good enough to meet her standards. She was distant and mordant; never bothering to being friends and always mentioning about my house pet lineage.
I gave her some poultry from the gathering my upwalker was holding the other day. My upwalker said that I could have some as a treat; but I thought it would be better to give White my treat. In hopes of her acknowledging me, instead she spat out the chicken and swiped it away from her feet. “You call this food? Even crowfood would taste much better now!” The white she-cat hissed.
I sat motionlessly in my yard, remembering the days she came by. The sounds of her paw prints nearing. I was emotionally confused; I did not know how to express them. My body trembled as each step that sounded out almost like an echo. The weather was warmer than usual, but it did not perk up my mood. She still came by each day to hoard some food, comment about it, and leave. I wish to please her but instead I felt betrayed. Am I just being used? Am I a mere toy to be played around with? Anger bubbled up from the core of my icy heart, my eyes glaring at the entrance of her coming down from my fence.
“Hey kittypet. What do you have for me today?” The she-cat purred with an arrogant tone.
She noticed that I was acting unusual, and tilted her head. “What’s wrong? You don’t have anything for me?” White meowed once more, trying to get my attention.
“What do you want? Fish? Chicken? A sandwich?” I growled with undeniable anger.
She narrowed her eyes at my tone; I stayed firmly to my spot glaring right back.
“So! You are trying to protest against me?” White meowed with a hint of agitation.
I could not bear it any longer. I loved her and always looked forward to her coming, but she changed my mind with her act of arrogance and disappointed me.
“Why do you come here!? I know you are not the type of wandering into house pet’s yards just to eat their food. Why? Answer me and don’t tell a lie!” I finally spat out the question I held to myself.
White’s face transfixed into a surprised expression, looking around for a way out of this situation. “I…I’m only looking forward to eating the food.” The she-cat yawned.
“That’s a lie and you know it. It’s spring. You should be able to catch your own food now.” I assured her with a nod over towards the outside walls of the fence, hearing many birds and scenting many critters lurking about.
White sat there with no answer and stared away. “I…I guess…I don’t know what to say.” She murmured. “I guess I became to like you.”
I narrowed my eyes and growled angrily at her. How can she say that when she treated me like foxdung? I leapt at her from the ridiculousness of her response; my claws unsheathed as I bit her on the back of her neck.
She struggled to get out and tried attacking back, but she was pinned down. She was screeching from the pain, I felt her heart pacing from the fear of death. Suddenly I saw her twist her body swiftly and getting ready to swipe me with her claws, and just in time I jumped away before she swiped me on my other eye.
“You got better.” The white she-cat panted as her body heaved for breath. “I lost fair and square. I will not come back to bother you again.”
Without another word, White jumped over the fence and disappeared; never to come back again.
